WHERE ~ Nearby Orvieto, Umbria
BEMYJOURNEY’S EXPERIENCE ~ “Questa casa non è un albergo”. This is how Giovanni, winemaker and owner of the property, described to me Locanda Palazzone‘s experience. Palazzone is the Italian country house we all wish we had. A place to sleep among vineyards, unwind and experience a heritage made of people, work and long family history.” Andrea
WHAT TO EXPECT ~ Locanda Palazzone is a Medieval historic residence and wine estate, located in the countryside of Orvieto. The Locanda’s story begins in the XIII Century when it was a “hospitalis”: accommodation for prelates and pilgrims who were heading to Rome to celebrate the Jubilee. After many years, a meticulous restoration brought back the Locanda to its original splendour. Today, Locanda Palazzone is a boutique wine resort where you can experience a relaxed and elegant stay among vineyards. Through the mullioned windows, all the 7 Suites have a panoramic view of the countryside and the Orvieto‘s tufo rock, standing out in the background. Prices start from 188 euro per night.
FOOD PHILOSOPHY ~ The food proposal offered by the Locanda is designed to let you discover the Umbrian culinary heritage. Most of the vegetables and fruits offered by the Locanda are grown in their vegetable garden to provide you with a farm-to-table experience at all meals. When it comes to the wine, if you are a good-wine lover, here you will have a chance to join several experiences designed to discover exceptional nuances. Get in touch with Andrea to learn more.
COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY ~ Locanda Palazzone is a historic residence dated back to the last quarter of the 13th Century brought back to its original splendour through a conservatory restoration. The philosophy shaped by Locanda Palazzone and their wine production is about enhancing the uniqueness of the land surrounding the property and its rich heritage. Locanda Palazzone is committed to preserving the local land characterised by a long geological history, by creating wines that represent the characteristics unique to this soil without alternating it. When it comes to the food proposal, seasonality is an ethical obligation and environmental sustainability is a commitment in the way the Locanda select each ingredient.
